So, you want to join the WIRED committee?

Getting involved with WIRED Monash will help you impress your future employers and boost your chances in getting a job. We will help you develop your leadership, communication, and event organising skills. In addition, if you are a creative person (like a photographer or graphic designer), we will give you the opportunity to help build up your portfolio and showcase your skills.

In order to contest one of the office bearer positions, you must attend the AGM in order to be nominated. However, you can express your interest in nominating by filling in the form below.

Positions Available

President

The duties of the President shall be to

  1. preside as chair over committee meetings and General Meetings;
  2. attend meetings of the Clubs & Societies Council, vote in the interests of the club, and report outcomes to the committee;
  3. co-ordinate the activities of the committee;
  4. strategize future plans and direct the committee, as the team leader;
  5. represent the club, and act as its spokesperson, to the Clubs & Societies Council, MSA, the University and other bodies, as appropriate;
  6. submit reports to committee meetings, as appropriate; and
  7. submit an annual report to the AGM.
  8. provide a comprehensive handover, including a detailed operational report, at the end of term for the next position holder.

Vice President

The duties of the Vice President shall be to

  1. attend committee meetings and General Meetings;
  2. preside as chair over committee meetings and General Meetings, in the absence of the President;
  3. assist the President in her/his duties;
  4. perform the duties of the President if that office is vacant; and
  5. perform other duties, as the committee may resolve.
  6. hold the diversity portfolio, that is to act as the voice of equal opportunity and diversity on all decisions and at all club events;
  7. liaise, collaborate and maintain contact with staff of the Engineering and IT faculties;
  8. liase, collaborate and maintain contact with similar student groups, and the greater IT industry to promote diversity to members and the wider student body;
  9. provide a comprehensive handover, including a detailed operational report, at the end of term for the next position holder.

Treasurer

The duties of the Treasurer shall be to

  1. attend committee meetings and General Meetings;
  2. keep the club's financial books in order, in accordance with the requirements of the Clubs & Societies Council;
  3. prepare a club budget, at least annually;
  4. collect and bank all income in the club's bank account;
  5. prepare the club's financial books for audit, semi-annually;
  6. submit a financial report to the AGM; and
  7. liaise with the Clubs & Societies Council on any financial requirements.
  8. provide a comprehensive handover, including a detailed operational report, at the end of term for the next position holder.

Secretary

The duties of the Secretary shall be to

  1. attend committee meetings and General Meetings;
  2. prepare agendas and minutes, and serve notice as prescribed, for General Meetings and committee meetings;
  3. act as Returning Officer for club elections, as appropriate;
  4. ensure that an up-to-date membership register is maintained;
  5. regularly check the club's mail box and electronic mail account, supplied by the Clubs & Societies Council, for incoming correspondence;
  6. ensure that inwards and outwards correspondence for the club is handled correctly and in a timely manner; and
  7. submit an annual report to the AGM.
  8. maintain the club's social media account inbox and website; and
  9. provide a comprehensive handover, including a detailed operational report, at the end of term for the next position holder.

Industry Officer

The duties of the Industry Officer shall be to

  1. attend committee meetings and General Meetings;
  2. organise sponsorship for the club and events using C&S templates, and ensure all sponsorship activities are met;
  3. connect the club and students with the IT industry and professional bodies;
  4. liaise with the Activities Officer, and other relevant committee members with the organisation of industry-related events;
  5. provide a comprehensive handover, including a detailed operational report, at the end of term for the next position holder; and
  6. perform other duties, as the committee may resolve.

Marketing Officer

The duties of the Marketing Officer shall be to

  1. attend committee meetings and General Meetings;
  2. design and manage marketing and promotional material for the club’s events and activities;
  3. manage the social media accounts of the club;
  4. provide a comprehensive handover, including a detailed operational report, at the end of term for the next position holder; and
  5. perform other duties, as the committee may resolve.

Activities Officer (x 3)

The duties of the Activities Officer shall be to

  1. attend committee meetings and General Meetings;
  2. organise and implement club events and activities;
  3. liaise with the Industry Officer with the organisation of industry events;
  4. provide a comprehensive handover, including a detailed operational report, at the end of term for the next position holder; and
  5. perform other duties, as the committee may resolve.

General Representative (x 3)

The duties of the General Representative shall be to perform such duties as the committee may resolve.
